The grating film, or cylindrical lens film is a special optical film that can be used in all sizes of displays for stereoscopic viewing without 3D glasses.
Features
To make the grating film with a total thickness of 60-300 μm, the cylindrical lens made of acrylic resin are cast onto a PET substrate (2-10 mil) and then cured against a precision cylindrical tool using ultraviolet light. Each side of the film is coated with a dust-proof and anti-scratch layer of 40-50 μm. Generally, the laterally-displaced eyes of an observer generate two streams of image signals differing slightly in their perspectives of the visual scene. With the use of the lenticular lens, 2D image streams are refracted and respectively projected to the right and left eye, and then combined in the brain to give the perception of stereo depth.
